We Still Have Each Other
As things speed up all around us it’s easy to get lost. We are more aware that something is going on but the majour media outlets aren’t hitting the spot the way they used to. Increasingly, I hear more and more people openly expressing their disgust at the pundits and news channels for not telling them anything, yet people are still not sure where to turn.
What is it? What is this nagging inside, this funny feeling that won’t go away? Yes, we can all point to the Gulf of Mexico and agree that a mass extinction is going on and that is a bother. But is that all? What is the meaning of this disaster that has been allowed to happen? What are the implications for humanity and all life on planet Earth left to the vices of such a callous corporate tyranny? Is that what we want for ourselves and our children? Now, we are getting warm…
We need to become scientists of our own being and dig in and discover for ourselves who we are and just what we see is going on around here. And most importantly, what can we do about it? What is our natural place in the creation? Not everybody has the calling to be in the spotlight, in fact most people don’t. The real work is done by and large by the people you never even hear about — the quiet s/heroes who make a difference every day by showing up for their lives with an open mind and heart and do their best. And in real science, the good questions lead to more good questions; the answers only markers on the ever expanding discovery of life itself. It is a radical attitude shift that is required to become our own Intuitive Genius and learn to mix the information ‘just so’ that it works in our own story.
Our own story matters the most. It is from our own stories that we create our vision of and for the future. How do these things tie into our own Soul growth? Where do they criss-cross within ourselves and meet the Universal pulse of life? In developing our own storyline we are not only moving the puzzle pieces of our own lives on the table, we are also being given an opportunity to know our inner workings and can access truth, our own truth. The satisfaction in coming to our own clarity is the seat of joy. It is the seed of inner peace that if we water and tend with loving care, has the potential to flourish and grow unbounded for many lifetimes.
In my storyline I defer to the wisdom of my Soul, to the part of me I call Soul that is immortal. The Soul that activates my breath and animates my body has seen many lifetimes, in many forms and has traveled many Galaxies and Universes as well. From my Soul I have a broader perspective and it makes it easier for me to discern truth of our current situation here on planet Earth.
I see the Gulf of Mexico extinction as a majour wake up call to all of us. We have lived vicariously and out of balance with the planet long enough and now it’s time to change our ways. That’s the simple answer, but of course it’s not that simple. What we need is each other more than anything. For all of the travails of humanity, the most debilitating is the perceived separation that we walk around assuming.
When I was 17 I got a job at a restaurant owned by people from Iran. The Iranian hostage situation was blasting in the media, telling us all how bad those Iranians were et al. I was a fresh kid and went up to my boss and asked him point blank how he felt being in a country where everyone hated him? He looked at me and leaned back as his eyes focused keenly on mine. His reply was ‘We are all people. We all want to be happy and free.’
What a gift his honesty was to me. And he was right. We don’t have to look far to realize that this is the truth. We just have to tune out the chatter and listen to the deeper voice of our Soul.
In my storyline we are all being given an opportunity to discover our one-ness, that we are one species and work together as never before, not only with each other but with other civilizations that reside in other places in the Universe as well. I see us at the dawning of a Golden Age where all humanity is in harmony, finally, with itself and all living beings. This is the deeper yearning of Soul and now is the time that we can work on ourselves and make room in our lives for nothing short of a radical shift of attitude towards ourselves and everybody else. For in choosing to cultivate our own humanity we open up to our greatest resource, each other. As things get weirder and scarier as birthing sometimes is, we still have each other.
